Pop Art Block Party Mural
(Photos by Krisada)
A drop of the dime invite to this event by my friend Matthew Koepka it was an unexpected but a very enjoyable event. I was greeted around every corner by artist of all kinds. Which is really my sort of party! I felt I had a connection with all of the artists on some common ground. The event was hosted by Unleash Management Group and SciHouse Jacksonville. The co-host Gabriel Licina from Scihouse and I had a chance to talk and see what the Scihouse by Makers Space and Bio-hacking Lab, is all about.
Gabriel was excited by what Scihouse offers at their facilities. Science and engineering aren’t things that stay locked in a lab. Anyone, anywhere can do it. Scihouse provides hardware equipment, electronics bench space, and even lab space, for anyone who wants to get started building the projects they’ve been dreaming about. Small membership fee like a gym membership unlocks the tools that fuel your imagination. So, naturally I had to go explore more and visit the booths they had opened for the event.
"Justin the Electric"
The first person I met on my tour was an electrician/ electricity artist, Justin. Who showed us how he puts a spark in a conversation. We shared a common language and field of knowledge. It was electrifying to talk shop again and reminisce on my military career as an aircraft electrician.

"David the Flamebender"
As we continued on to the next booth flames were ignited when I met David. Seriously, David is a flameworker and he was working with molten glass on a Double Helix for a stem to a pair of wine glasses. Super nerded out and desired to own the pair. I asked if we could make a trade for my flameworking tools and spare glass in exchange. The longer we talked the more and more I wanted to go home and fire up my own torch and melt some glass in my garage again. An old flame was rekindled. My love for flameworking was returning. I pondered my trade deal.
The stems were looking pretty cool too! I stayed and chatted about our shared and mutual hobby. I decided to take precautionary measures and put on some protective eye wear.

I found myself running into a very cool chick named Naomi McDonald.
She is also a Survivor which is a story she clearly conveys in her art.
Naomi and I met and instantly had a connection through life and art.
When she met me she was immediately excited and wanted to give me a hug!
And asked to have picture with me.
Of course! She was so adorably sweet!
Naomi McDonald is a truly heartfelt person. Raw and personable. I urge you to check out her art @ArtbyNFM
